Parksville councillor Marc Lefebvre wants the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) to ask the provincial government to allow corporations to vote in municipalities where they own property.
He said there is an imbalance between companies that can't vote and non-resident property owners who are able to vote in local elections.
He suggested that an individual be designated in writing to vote on the company's behalf and wants Parksville council to endorse the request to be sent first to the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities and then hopefully on to the UBCM.
The item is scheduled to be discussed at Monday night's meeting as a notice of motion.
